Come Rest Awhile
Founded in 2001, Come Rest Awhile is a non-profit sober living facility dedicated to supporting women in their recovery journey. Nestled in a large, welcoming home within a beautiful residential neighborhood in Lake Oswego, Oregon, our facility provides a peaceful and nurturing environment just a few miles south of Portland, along the west bank of the Willamette River.
Our Mission
Our mission is to offer a safe and supportive family-like setting where women in recovery from substance abuse can heal, grow, and build a solid foundation for a life of sobriety and independence.
Our Community
We maintain an intimate setting, accommodating no more than 10 women at a time. This close-knit environment fosters deep connections among residents, allowing them to share experiences, build lasting friendships, and support one another through the challenges and victories of recovery.

Our Goal
At Come Rest Awhile, our goal is to empower women as they transition to an independent life in recovery. Our structured environment and house guidelines are thoughtfully designed to guide each woman through the necessary steps to rebuild her life and establish a strong support network within the community.
Who We Serve
We welcome women aged 18 and over, from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, religion, ethnic background, or sexual orientation.
Length of Stay
Most residents choose to stay between 6 months and a year, with the most rewarding transformations often taking place around the 9-month mark. Since 2015, we have been honored to provide a safe haven for over 600 women, offering them the stability and support they need to thrive in recovery.
At Come Rest Awhile, every woman is valued, every story matters, and every step forward is celebrated. Together, we create a home where hope is restored and new beginnings take root.

Now a little backstory of CRA for you.
Founded in 1997 by Nancy Engeman, the leadership transitioned to Ildi Klein in 2015.

A Dream Becomes a Sanctuary
In early 1997, two women with a shared dream crossed paths. Nancy Engeman, with her background in alcohol and drug treatment and nonprofit work, and Mickey O’Connell, with her wealth of business experience, had a vision—to create a safe, nurturing space where women could find their path to a healthy, fulfilled life in recovery. With the support of a mutual friend and their combined expertise, Come Rest Awhile was born, earning its 501(c)3 status in April of 1997.
On July 1, 2001, Come Rest Awhile opened its doors in a cozy little house in Lake Oswego. Nancy moved in as Executive Director, and within just a few weeks, six courageous women joined her, each beginning their journey to healing and renewal. Though now living in Molokai, Hawaii, Mickey continues to be a guiding light and steadfast supporter of the organization.
Today, Come Rest Awhile thrives in a spacious and welcoming home in Lake Oswego, providing a safe haven for up to 10 residents. Known throughout the treatment community, this sanctuary of hope receives referrals from across the United States, continuing its mission to offer comfort, guidance, and the promise of a fresh start.
